What are the benefits of CEREC one-visit dentistry?
At Family Dentistry of Caledonia, we are pleased to offer CEREC restorations for patients in and around Caledonia, Michigan. CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, a revolutionary technology that allows Drs. Gary Scott and Allyson M. Grove to create high-quality dental restorations in just one visit. This means there is no need for temporary crowns or waiting weeks for your permanent restoration to return to the dental office from an outside ceramist.
How does CEREC technology work to provide same-day crowns and other restorations?
CEREC technology uses 3D imaging and computer-aided design (CAD) to create custom dental restorations. The process begins with our dentist taking a highly accurate digital impression of your tooth using an intraoral camera. This eliminates the need for traditional “gooey” impressions that can cause discomfort and inaccuracies. The 3D image is then used to design the restoration, ensuring a perfect fit!
Once the design is complete, it is sent to our practice’s in-office milling machine, which creates your restoration from a block of high-quality dental ceramic. This process takes only 35 minutes while you relax in the dental chair. Once the restoration is complete, our dentist will glaze and polish it to match the color and texture of your natural teeth.
What are the benefits of CEREC dentistry?
The most obvious benefit of CEREC dentistry is the ability to enjoy one visit for a dental restoration instead of two or more. It also eliminates the need for placing a temporary crown, which can be ill-fitted and uncomfortable. We understand your time is precious, and we are pleased to offer same-day porcelain crowns at our office. Not all dental practices use CEREC technology for their restorative care, which is one of many reasons why Family Dentistry of Caledonia stands out from the rest!
