Using nitrous sedation to ease dental anxiety
Dental anxiety and phobia can affect patients of all ages and genders. But visiting the dentist doesn’t have to be a scary experience. Drs. Gary Scott and Allyson M. Grove of Family Dentistry of Caledonia help Caledonia, Michigan, area patients face their fears with a bit of help from nitrous oxide sedation. When working with sedation, our dental team is able to complete a patient’s dental work while they remain at ease in the chair. We offer nitrous oxide sedation, sometimes called “laughing gas,” for patients needing simple or complex services at our office.
What is nitrous oxide sedation?
Our dentists, Drs. Scott and Grove encourage patients with dental anxiety to ask about nitrous oxide sedation. This type of sedation is easy to administer and reverse, making it perfect for those completing dental work before returning to work or school afterward. It is an odorless, colorless gas that is delivered through the nose to almost immediately relax a patient who might find themselves anxious when they sit in the dentist’s chair. It helps them feel at ease, and some patients even rest during their dental treatments! To reverse the sedation, our team will administer oxygen, and within minutes, patients are back to their normal state.
How much does nitrous oxide sedation cost?
If you have dental phobia, we do not want to make it worse with high costs for sedation. We proudly offer nitrous oxide sedation at no cost to our patients to help them access what they need to feel comfortable when receiving their dental treatments. All you have to do is ask!
